Sarah Palin, the ultimate Rovian ploy
A theory regarding Sarah Palin - McCains choice for VP.
McCains camp did not thoroughly vet Palin, because it is not their intention to have her actually be VP. Instead, they chose her because of her ‘good’ conservative and pro-life credentials and because she is a woman, also because they know that she is NOT qualified for the job. However, her selection makes the republicans look like hey want a woman, look like they have the credentials that the christian right want, and that the right of the part would approve of.
It is their intention that she cause controversy, moving attention away from the Dems. For a couple of weeks she will be all anybody talks about, but in the end she will look so bad that they just can not keep her. At that point they will go for Joe Lieberman, and in so doing gain the jewish vote, while retaining the christian right and looking like they are fighting ‘a good fight’ against those muckraking low down democrats.
Its the best move that Rove has ever made against the Dems.
